Starkatz recognises diversification is paramount for the breed and has established a breeding program including outcrossed bloodlines to better support the breed now - and well into the future.
The Cat Fanciers Association notes that "breeders are reporting less hearty litters, smaller adults, smaller litters, all identifying with immune system problems, all of which point towards inbreeding depression becoming more common."
